Jamie McCrary Nursing Clerk, 4 East 11 years of service
"My job is like a concierge. I fill everyone's needs and figure out how to get things done - not only for patients, but for staff as well," she explained.
Jamie does the supply ordering for Cardiology, processes patient orders, answers the phone, and acts as a support person to Nurses and Physicians on 4 East. She also processes orders for Tele-Central and Case Management, as well as for Coordinators and Managers.
"I know I've had a good day when we have happy patients. That makes your day, makes it all worth it," Jamie noted.
And her co-workers agree that Jamie's support and hard work make their jobs easier. "She knows what is happening on the floor at all times," they wrote in the EOM nomination letter. "(She ) jumps at the chance to help out in any way possible."
But a word of warning: never, ever leave an unmarked coffee cup on 4 East, or it will disappear. Because Jamie operates by this credo: if you haven't used something in three months, it's gone. Donated or thrown away, but definitely gone. And that carries over to her family as well. She said it makes for some interesting conversations with her husband! Congratulations, Jamie. Jamie was also the 2010 Nursing Support Staff Excellence Award winner this past May.
