Responsibilities

As an RN, Diabetes Nurse Educator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing personalized diabetes education plans for patients.
  • Conducting individual and group educational sessions on diabetes self-management.
  • Assessing patients' needs and providing appropriate counseling regarding diet, exercise, medications, and overall disease management.
  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals, such as physicians and dietitians, to ensure comprehensive care for patients with diabetes.
  • Monitoring patients' progress and adjusting educational plans accordingly.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of education programs and making recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • Valid RN license in the state of Michigan.
  • Certification as a Diabetes Nurse Educator (CDE) or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
  • Strong knowledge of diabetes management principles, including medication management, blood glucose monitoring, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively educate and support patients.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Experience in providing diabetes education and counseling to patients.
