Responsibilities

As a Patient Observer in the Emergency Department, your primary responsibility is to closely monitor patients under your care. This includes providing continuous vigilant attention to patients, ensuring their safety, and promptly alerting the nursing staff if any concerns or changes in condition arise. Our Patient Observers are trained to identify signs of distress, agitation, or potential danger to patients, allowing for immediate intervention if necessary.

You will also need to document any observed changes in the patient's vital signs, behavior, or symptoms, providing detailed reports to the nursing staff. Effective communication is crucial, as you will work closely with the healthcare team to ensure the best possible care for patients.

Qualifications

At Bay Regional Medical Center, we seek individuals who are dedicated, compassionate, and possess excellent observation skills. The role of a Patient Observer (Sitter) demands strong attention to detail and the ability to remain focused during your assigned shifts. To be eligible, candidates must have completed a recognized Patient Observer training program and hold a valid CPR certification. Prior experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous but not mandatory.
