Responsibilities of a Surgical Technician in Labor & Delivery

As a Surgical Technician in the labor and delivery department, your role will be integral in providing support during cesarean sections and other surgical procedures. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Preparing Operating Rooms: Set up the surgical suite with appropriate surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Assisting the surgical team: Provide direct assistance to surgeons and nurses during procedures, ensuring all instruments and equipment are available and ready for use.
  • Sterilizing Equipment: Follow strict sterilization protocols to ensure a safe and sterile environment.
  • Maintaining Documentation: Accurately document all procedures, patient information, and inventory of surgical supplies.
  • Emergency Support: Be prepared to assist during emergency situations that may arise during labor and delivery.

Requirements for the Position:

To be considered for the Surgical Technician position in the labor and delivery department at Bay Regional Medical Center, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Education and Certification: Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program and possession of a valid Surgical Technician certification.
  • Experience: Previous experience in labor and delivery or a surgical setting is preferred.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with the surgical team, patients, and other healthcare professionals.
