Responsibilities of a Labor and Delivery Nurse

A labor and delivery nurse plays a crucial role in providing care, support, and guidance to expectant mothers throughout their labor and delivery process. In this position, you will be responsible for:

  • Assessing the mother's condition and monitoring vital signs during labor.
  • Assisting with pain management techniques, such as breathing exercises and medication administration.
  • Monitoring fetal heart rates and recognizing any signs of distress.
  • Providing emotional support and reassurance to both the mother and her family.
  • Assisting with the delivery process and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Collaborating with doctors, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal care.
  • Providing post-partum care and educating new mothers on infant care techniques.

Qualifications and Requirements

In order to be considered for this position, we expect you to meet the following qualifications:

  • Hold a valid nursing license in the state of Idaho.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of labor and delivery nursing experience.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Show proficiency in fetal monitoring and neonatal resuscitation.
  • Possess a strong attention to detail and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
