What Does a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Do?

A Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is a crucial member of the surgical team. CSTs work alongside surgeons, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth and safe delivery of patient care in the operating room.

Responsibilities of a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) in CVOR

1. Preoperative Duties

As a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) in CVOR, your preoperative duties may involve preparing the operating room, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring all necessary supplies are readily available. You will work closely with the surgical team to create a sterile and safe environment for the patient.

2. Intraoperative Assistance

During surgical procedures, your role as a CST in CVOR is to assist surgeons by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies. You will be responsible for maintaining the sterile field, anticipating the surgeon's needs, and providing support during critical moments of the operation.

3. Postoperative Support

After surgery, CSTs play a vital role in postoperative care.
