What Does an Athletic Trainer Do?

An Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing medical care, prevention, and rehabilitation services to athletes and individuals participating in sports or physical activities. They work closely with coaches, athletes, and medical professionals to develop treatment plans, evaluate injuries, and facilitate recovery.

Job Responsibilities

As an Athletic Trainer at Bay Regional Medical Center, your responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating and assessing injuries
  • Providing immediate care for acute injuries
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans
  • Offering rehabilitation exercises and techniques
  • Monitoring the progress of athletes
  • Collaborating with physicians and healthcare professionals
  • Teaching injury prevention methods
  • Creating customized conditioning programs

Requirements

To qualify for the Athletic Trainer position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field
  • Be certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association
  • Have a valid state license
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of sports-related injuries and prevention strategies
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Show adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced environment
