Responsibilities of the Oncology Pharmacist

In this crucial role, you will be responsible for:

  • Compounding and dispensing chemotherapy medications accurately
  • Ensuring appropriate medication doses and therapies for each patient
  • Reviewing patient charts and making recommendations based on individual needs
  • Collaborating with healthcare teams to optimize patient care
  • Providing drug information and counseling to patients and healthcare professionals
  • Participating in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives

Requirements

To be considered for the Loyola Oncology Pharmacist position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution
  • Active Illinois pharmacist license in good standing
  • Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP) preferred but not required
  • Strong understanding of chemotherapy agents, drug interactions, and adverse effects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
