Key Responsibilities:

  • Indexing medical records using industry-standard coding systems
  • Coordinating scheduling requests for appointments
  • Verifying insurance and demographic information for accurate recordkeeping
  • Collaborating with medical staff and other departments to optimize scheduling efficiency
  • Maintaining confidentiality and complying with HIPAA regulations

Requirements

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

1. Experience and Skills

Proven experience as an Indexer or Scheduling Specialist in a healthcare setting is highly desirable. Excellent attention to detail, the ability to prioritize tasks, and proficiency in medical terminology and coding systems are essential. Additionally, strong organizational and interpersonal skills will contribute to your success in this role.

2. Education

A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. However, a post-secondary degree or certification in a related field (such as Health Information Management or Medical Office Administration) will be advantageous.

3. Certifications

While not mandatory, possessing relevant certifications, such as Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), will be highly regarded and may increase your chances of securing this position.
