As a Clinical Documentation Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and comprehensive patient records, which directly impact patient care and healthcare reimbursement.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate and complete clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to clarify and obtain necessary medical information.
  • Identify gaps and discrepancies in clinical documentation and provide education and training to healthcare staff for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, regulations, and standards related to clinical documentation.
  • Participate in clinical documentation improvement initiatives to optimize patient care, quality outcomes, and revenue cycle management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Professional certification as a Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with electronic health record systems and coding software.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships with healthcare professionals across departments.
