The Role of an MDS Coordinator
As an MDS Coordinator at Bay Regional Medical Center, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient assessments. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate and facilitate the completion of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) as mandated by regulatory guidelines. This includes collecting and analyzing data, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' medical conditions and care needs
- Collect and analyze data to complete the Minimum Data Set (MDS)
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory guidelines and documentation standards
- Monitor and update patient records, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress
- Provide education and training to staff members on documentation and coding practices

Qualifications and Requirements
To excel in this role, an MDS Coordinator should possess the following qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- At least 2 years of experience in long-term care or a similar setting
- Strong knowledge of MDS guidelines and regulations
