Job Responsibilities
As a Registered Nurse in the Special Care Nursery, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to critically ill newborns. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing Patients: Conducting thorough assessments of newborns' health and development, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and performing diagnostic tests.
- Collaborating with Healthcare Team: Working closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Providing Emotional Support: Offering guidance and support to parents and family members, ensuring they are well-informed and involved in the care of their newborn.
- Maintaining Documentation: Accurately documenting all patient information, procedures, and medications in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Educating Patients and Families: Providing education on newborn care, including feeding techniques, medication administration, and signs of distress.
Qualifications and Requirements
In order to succeed in this role, candidates should meet the following requirements:
- Valid Nursing License: Must hold an active Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
- Prior Experience: Previous experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Special Care Nursery setting is preferred.
- Strong Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
- Attention to Detail: Strong observational and critical thinking skills, with the ability to accurately assess patient conditions and respond appropriately.
- Compassionate Caregiver: Demonstrated empathy and compassion towards newborns and their families.
