Job Responsibilities

As an IRB Administrator at Bay Regional Medical Center, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing all aspects of our Institutional Review Board. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing research proposals and ensuring compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies
  • Assisting researchers in preparing IRB applications and ensuring all required documents and approvals are obtained
  • Conducting comprehensive reviews of research protocols to assess potential risks and ethical considerations
  • Collaborating with investigators to address any concerns or modifications required for approval
  • Maintaining accurate records of IRB activities, meetings, and decisions
  • Providing guidance and education to researchers and staff on ethical research practices
  • Staying up-to-date with evolving regulatory requirements related to human subjects research

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, we require the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (advanced degree preferred)
  • At least 3 years of experience in IRB administration or a related field
  • Strong understanding of federal regulations, such as the Common Rule and HIPAA
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to analyze complex protocols
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of IRB management software
  • Certification as an IRB Professional (CIP) is a plus
