Job Description

As a Pre-service Insurance Specialist in the Centralized Scheduling department, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that our patients' insurance coverage is verified and authorization for their scheduled procedures is obtained in a timely manner. This essential role requires a meticulous attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to navigate insurance systems and processes efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Verify patients' insurance coverage and benefits prior to scheduled procedures
  • Obtain necessary authorizations from insurance providers
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to resolve any issues or discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of insurance verification and authorization processes
  • Communicate with patients to ensure they understand any financial responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Billing and Revenue Cycle teams to facilitate smooth processing of claims
  • Stay informed about changes in insurance policies, coding requirements, and industry trends

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, the following qualifications are required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in insurance verification, medical billing, or related field
  • Proficiency in using insurance portals and electronic medical records systems
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
